The duet of  Phoebe Alexandra and Cy Williams, two essentially self-taught musicians, is unique in the rapport they show, in their familiarity with the styles they play and in the original interpretation and approach they give to songs that too often are abused. Phoebe Alexandra, madrileña de madre norteamericana, tuvo desde siempre una afinidad con el soul y el blues,  la música con la que se crió. Fue después de su paso por el conservatorio – donde estudió voz y piano – cuando retomó la música de sus ‘raíces’, sobre todo en sus reformulaciones por Janis Joplin, Nina Simone o Amy Winehouse, entre otras. A la vez fue ampliando su repertorio para incluir el rhythm & blues, standards de jazz y temas propios. La joven cantante ha actuado en distintos clubs de Madrid, cantando junto con Red House y como protagonista del grupo de R&B Komodos. La potencia de su voz – que realmente es fuera de lo común – , su técnica, y sobre todo su habilidad por meterse dentro de las canciones de estos géneros, hacen que sea única en el  panorama de nuevas cantantes..

Phoebe Alexandra, born in Madrid to an American mother, has always identified strongly with the soul and blues music she grew up with. After a stint at the Conservatory – where she studied voice and piano – she returned to the music of her ‘roots’, in particular to the newer takes on it  heard in the singing of Janis Joplin, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse, among others. Phoebe’s repertoire grew to include R&B, jazz standards and songs of her own, and with this material she has sung in numerous clubs around Madrid, performing with Red House and with the R&B group Komodos. The remarkable power of her voice, her technique and above all her ability to get ‘inside’ the songs she interprets truly make her stand out in the panorama of today’s young singers.
